If you are one who was taught that you can obtain salvation through a sinner’s prayer, I pray that you are an honest soul who simply did not look to the Word of God for answers and is ready to follow what the Bible says for the sake of your soul. An honest soul will always look to the Word of God for the right answer to the question, “How can I be saved?” Men have come up with many different false teachings on how to obtain salvation from sins when God has clearly given us in the Bible, His way for us to obtain salvation. Not following the Bible truthfully will lead to one’s greatest disappointment on judgment day. Who will you listen to for the answer? God’s Word or Man’s Word?
Watch these videos of two famous preachers, teaching people to say the sinner’s prayer to be saved. The sinner’s prayer has many different versions. You will notice a small difference in the two videos but the overall teaching is that one can be saved by praying the sinner’s prayer. The sinner’s prayer is a prayer that you do not find in the Bible nor it is commanded by Jesus as the way for anyone to be saved. Watch and listen to the man-made teaching.
Joel Osteen says “I am not here to condemn anybody” yet he is doing so by not teaching the Truth on the matter. Millions blindly follow these men and others without any investigation done on what they say the Bible says. We do not want Jesus to say this about us: “And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.” (Matthew 15:9)
Let’s look at what the Bible teaches on Salvation.
Watch and contrast this video to what Joel Osteen is teaching. Notice that the Bible not only tells us how to be saved, “He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16:16 NKJV), but it also shows us examples of people in the book of Acts, who actually did what Jesus said to do in order to be saved.
I pray that you will see the simple Truth in God’s Word. Help someone who has been taught the sinners prayer to see the Truth of the scriptures. If you were taught this, I do not bring this up to offend you, I want you to know what God’s Word teaches on the subject and encourage you to follow the Word and not man.
Will you follow the Bible, or follow the teaching of men?
““Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, “Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’And then I will declare to them, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” (Matthew 7:21–23 NKJV)
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”” (John 8:32 NKJV)
