One of my favorite children church songs have the lyrics “ with Jesus in a family happy family, happy family, happy family.” That song will always be in my memory because someone took the time to teach it to me along with other things Bible related. Also growing up in the Samoan culture, we always had family evening Bible time.
Athena and I had work to get to the point where family Bible time is a must every day. We were not consistent at first and it did not come naturally. But the more we realize how serious it is for our children to know the Creator and to love Him, we have not missed a night (even Sundays and Wednesday nights). Sometimes Bible Time is short because we were all tired, but we made sure we would not miss having it. We learned that Bible Time should be fun because the kiddos both learn and enjoy doing it.
Here is a glimpse of our imaginative microphone. Tonight it is Titus’ turn to use his magical powers to create the microphone for our Bible Time.
“And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” (Deuteronomy 6:7 KJV)
“And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4 KJV)
