Many through their own ideology and lack of knowledge of the what the Bible says, claim that there are more ways to get to Heaven. Some follow the philosophy of men like Epictetus who stated,”All religions must be tolerated… for every man must get to heaven in his own way.” This quote is also attributed to Federick the Great, and possibly others. But the point is, this idea plagues the minds of many. The Bible tells us that a man depending on his own understanding is on a dangerous path: “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 14:12 KJV). Man needs to rely on God for guidance: “O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps” (Jeremiah 10:23 KJV). The Lord Jesus made it clear that those who will make it to Heaven are those who obey His Father:

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity” (Matthew 7:21–23 KJV).

Notice that those whom the Lord will send away thought they were doing the will of God. It is safe to say they thought they were in the right way. However, their sincerity and good intentions did not matter to Jesus. What matters to Jesus is doing the will of his Father. Some have taught no man can know and understand the will of the Father. But the Bible clearly says that by reading, one can understand and know the will of the Father.

  • “Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ” (Ephesians 3:4 KJV).
  • “Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is” (Ephesians 5:17 KJV).
  • “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”(John 8:32 KJV).

What does the Bible say about the way to Heaven?

The Bible says there is only one way to Heaven, and that way is Jesus Christ: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John.14:6). I love how clear and simple God has specified the way to Heaven for all. Did Jesus say anything that is hard for us to understand? By stating He is the way, Jesus left no room for the possibility of any other way. It is either Jesus which is the narrow way, or the man made ways, which is the broad way:

“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matthew 7:13–14 KJV)

The sad truth is that many will not agree that Jesus is the only way. But there is hope for one who is seeking the truth in the Word of God. Being in the way is synonymous with being in the body of Christ. The following passages will show the Truth that is taught in the Bible about the one church, which is the one way, which is also the one body of Jesus Christ.

JESUS SAID MY CHURCH (singular)

  • “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18 KJV)
  • “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.” (Acts 20:28 KJV)

PAUL WROTE ONE BODY, ONE TEMPLE, ONE BRIDE, ONE HOUSE (singular)

  • “There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;” (Ephesians 4:4 KJV)
  • “And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.” (Ephesians 1:22–23 KJV)
  • “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.” (1 Corinthians 12:13 KJV)
  • And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.” (Colossians 1:18 KJV)
  • “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” (1 Corinthians 3:16–17 KJV)
  • “But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” (1 Timothy 3:15 KJV)
  • “Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.” (Romans 7:4 KJV)
  • “For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;” (Ephesians 5:23–25 KJV)

PROPHETS PROPHECIED ONE KINGDOM, WHICH IS THE ONE CHURCH(singular)

  • “And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.” (Daniel 2:44 KJV)
  • “I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.” (Daniel 7:13–14 KJV)
  • “And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.” (2 Samuel 7:12–13 KJV)
  • “And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.” (Isaiah 2:2–3 KJV)
  • “And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 3:2 KJV)
  • “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19 KJV)
  • “And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.” (Mark 9:1 KJV)

Notice then how clear the scriptures reveal the truth about there being only one church. Where then do denominations come from? Where does the idea of many ways to heaven come from? The Bible does not teach nor give approval of denominations or the idea of many ways to Heaven. Incidentally, denominations claim to follow the Bible, yet they teach different ways to be saved, which are not taught by scriptures. It is better for one to follow what the Bible says for it is the Word of God:

  • “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:16–17 KJV)
  • “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:” (2 Peter 1:3 KJV)

I have many friends and family in denominations. I myself came out of a denomination (Methodist) after learning the simple truth in the Bible. I encourage my friends and family who are not in the way (the one church), to search the Bible and see if what is said here is True. It is time for us to take God at His Word and believe His Word.

How can one enter the body of Christ? How can one enter into the narrow way? How can one enter into the church? How can one be saved?  Notice friends that these questions are all asking the same thing. Only the Bible can provide the true answer. To enter the way one must become a Christian by obeying the gospel of Christ (be saved) as according to the Bible.

Five Steps to becoming a Christian as according to the Bible

  • First, one must hear the Word of God in order to have Faith (Rom. 10:17)
  • Second, one must believe that Jesus is the Son of God (John 8:24, John 3:16)
  • Third, one must repent and turn away from sin (Acts 17:30, Luke 13:3)
  • Fourth, one must confess that Jesus is Lord, the son of the Living God (Matthew 10:32-33)
  • Fifth, one must be baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38, Mark 16:16)

One cannot be a Christian in any other way, but by the doing what is listed above. When one becomes a true Christian as according to the Bible, he through baptism is added to the church by God: “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved” (Acts 2:41, 47 KJV). Being added to the church is synonymous with being saved, being in Jesus Christ, and being in the only way to Heaven:

  • “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:3–4 KJV)
  • “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.” (1 Corinthians 12:13 KJV)
  • “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” (Galatians 3:27 KJV)
  • “And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:” (Ephesians 2:16 KJV)
  • “The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:” (1 Peter 3:21 KJV)

Conclusion

Friends and Family denominations are not found in the Bible. There is no mention of any in the pages of scriptures. We need to make sure that we are truly following the Bible. The greatest parallel to the one way and the one church is Noah’s ark. God told Noah to build an ark according to the specs God gave him. Then God commanded Noah and his family to “come into the ark” (Gen. 6:18, Gen 7:1). Even the animals needed to be inside the ark (Gen. 6:19). Why would they need to be in the ark? Because the flood will destroy everyone and everything that is outside of the ark. When the flood came, how many ways were there available for people to be saved from the flood? Just One. Just as there was only one way for salvation in the time of Noah, there is also only one way for salvation when the day of judgment comes, that is in the body of Christ. Paul stated that on judgement day, Jesus will come to deliver the kingdom (which is the church of Christ, the one body): “Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power” (1 Corinthians 15:24 KJV). We need to ensure that we are in the church which Christ will deliver.

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32 KJV)
